LIFE EL-BIOS project start
The implementation LIFE EL-BIOS project started in October 2021. The project has a total budget of 2.571.132€ and is co-financed by the EU LIFE Programme and Green Fund.
The main contribution of LIFE EL-BIOS is the creation of the National Information System for the biodiversity of Greece.
The National Information System will facilitate the:
- monitoring,
- conservation &
- management
of biodiversity in Greece and is expected to be the main national tool for the biodiversity of Greece, that will be managed by the Natural Environment and Climate Change Agency (N.E.C.C.A.).
The project is implemented by:
- Green Fund (Coordinator),
- Natural Environment and Climate Change Agency (N.E.C.C.A.),
- Aristotle University of Thessaloniki,
- Goulandris Museum of Natural History / Greek Biotopes-Wetlands Center,
- University of Thessaly,
- European Thematic Center – University of Malaga,
- OLYMPOS CONSULTING P.C..
The first monitoring visit by NEEMO EEIG (the legal entity responsible for the monitoring of LIFE projects), took place in May 2022 and was very successful. Ever since then, all the preparatory actions of the project are progressing according to the project’s time plan.
