WebsiteThe LIFE Programme is the EU’s funding instrument for the environment and climate action created in 1992. The LIFE programme is divided into two sub-programmes, one for Environment (representing 75% of the overall financial envelope) and one for Climate action (representing 25% of the envelope). The funding period 2014-2020 had a budget of €3.4 billion, while the current funding period 2021-2027 has a budget of €5.4 billion.
LIFE EL-BIOS has been approved in the LIFE Priority Area “Environmental Governance and Information” of sub-programme “Environment”, during the funding period 2014-2020. Projects in this sub-category receive a co-funding of up to 55%.
LIFE EL-BIOS sector: activities in support of effective control process as well as measures to promote compliance in relation to Union environmental legislation, and in support of information systems and information tools on implementation of Union environmental legislation.
The new LIFE programme in the funding period 2021-2027 covers the following areas:
Nature and biodiversity
Circular economy and quality of life
Climate change mitigation and adaptation
Clean energy transition.
